Mission Statement
The mission of the Baldwin County Master Gardener (BCMG) volunteer corporation is to provide horticultural education, community service, and environmental stewardship for our community in affiliation with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES) program.
Core Commitments
Everything BCMG does flows from two foundational commitments to Baldwin County and the state of Alabama:
- Protect and conserve natural resources by teaching safe, effective, and sustainable horticultural practices that promote the development of healthy gardens, landscapes, and communities.
- Train and certify Master Gardeners who volunteer their expertise and services in support of the Cooperative Extension effort related to the horticultural sciences.
What We Provide
To fulfill that mission, the BCMG Corporation is committed to providing:
- Enhancement and support of consumer horticulture programs in teaching and research through the Alabama Cooperative Extension System Universities.
- Ongoing opportunities to deepen Master Gardeners' knowledge of and interest in horticulture and related activities.
- Community service to residents of Baldwin County through horticultural projects and the dissemination of information on horticultural practices and techniques, as approved by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System.
- Connection opportunities for Master Gardeners to associate with others who share an interest in horticulture.
- Scholarships to assist Baldwin County students in the study of horticulture and related subjects, under rules and regulations established by the Board.
