The Program
What is a Master Gardener?
Trained volunteers bringing reliable, relevant, and reachable horticulture education to communities across Alabama.
About the Program
The Alabama Master Gardener Program is a volunteer training program through which the Alabama Cooperative Extension System expands its outreach mission to the citizens of Alabama. This program represents an effective partnership between the land-grant universities of this state and motivated volunteers committed to educating their communities with research-based information.
Master Gardeners are trained volunteers who offer their local communities gardening information and educational opportunities grounded in three core principles:
Reliable. Relevant. Reachable.
Reliable
Our gardening advice and programs are science-based, drawing on research from Alabama's land-grant universities.
Relevant
Our information is timely and tailored to the plants, soils, and growing conditions specific to our region.
Reachable
